Nathan Steeves
VP, Exploration
Nathan Steeves is an accomplished exploration geologist with deep expertise in mineral systems, structural geology, and the integration of advanced technologies for modern mineral discovery. With more than a decade of experience leading exploration programs across Alaska, northern Canada, and internationally, he has built a reputation for technical rigor and discovery-focused execution.
Prior to joining Alex Metals, Nathan served as Chief Geologist at HighGold Mining, where he played a central role in expanding the Johnson Tract deposit to over 1 Moz AuEq and in the discovery of the Ellis deposit. Earlier in his career, he co-led the discovery of the silver- and zinc-rich AG deposit at the 17 Mt Palmer VMS Project in Southeast Alaska, one of the region’s most significant recent polymetallic discoveries.
Nathan holds an M.Sc. in Earth Sciences from the University of Ottawa and a Ph.D. from CODES, University of Tasmania, where his research focused on the Palmer and Greens Creek VMS deposits in Southeast Alaska. His academic and field expertise underpin a disciplined approach to exploration that combines a deep, research-based understanding of exploration methods and mineral systems with pragmatic, capital-efficient exploration in remote, complex environments.
